Art Hollerud, 75, of Austin, Minnesota, died at home on Saturday, April 28, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after being diagnosed with chronic leukemia on Feb. 21 of this year.
Art was born in Lyle, Minnesota, on Dec. 23, 1942, to Charles and Doris Hollerud. He attended school in Lyle, graduating in 1960. He met Sharon Young during their senior year after her family moved to Lyle and they were married May 19, 1962. After graduating barber school in Minneapolis, he barbered in Lyle and Mapleview, Minnesota, until going into real estate in 1978. In 1982, he attended auctioneer school in Mason City, Iowa, and continued doing both until his death.
Art loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; trail riding, fishing and selling real estate.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Doris Hollerud; his brother, Richard; and nephew, Todd Hollerud.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon; his sons, Scott (Annette) Hollerud, Erik Hollerud, Craig (Corie) Hollerud and Mark (Andrea) Hollerud; six grandchildren, Kyra, Erika, Kinsey, Arthur, Amelia and Melody; brother, Roger (Elaine) Hollerud; sister-in-law, Lois Hollerud; nieces, Malia Haskins (Kurt Gonyea), Shawn (Scott) Johnson, Kris Hollerud and Jodie Hollerud; uncle, Kenneth (Eleanor) Hollerud; cousins; and sisters-in-law, Carol Rauen and Shirley (Bill) Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with Jon Best officiating. Private interment will be at Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and one hour on Saturday before the service.
