Elgin Tyrese Green, 24, of Austin pleaded guilty to felony violent felon in possession of a firearm as part of a plea agreement on Friday in Mower County District Court.

Green was arrested on Feb. 15 as a suspect in a Jan. 7 shooting. Police were assisting agents from the Department of Corrections, and Green was found hiding in a closet in the second floor bedroom at a residence in the 900 block of Second Avenue Southwest.

An officer found a “North Face” coat on the living room couch inside the house. When he picked it up, he felt that it was heavy, and found a .22 caliber Ruger semi-automatic pistol in one of the pockets. The pistol was loaded with “Super X’ brand ammunition, which allegedly matched that used in the Jan. 7 shooting. A DOC agent said he saw Green wearing the jacket.
