Lesly Lamont Wadley, 41, of Austin was charged on Tuesday in Mower County District Court with felony domestic assault and felony violating an order for protection.

According to a court document, police responded to a domestic disturbance call at 4:40 a.m. on Dec. 2 in the 400 block of Fourth Avenue Northwest. A woman at the residence told dispatch that she had locked herself in the bathroom because Wadley had just assaulted her. When officers arrived, the doors were locked and they allegedly heard a man yelling inside.

Wadley then allegedly looked out the window and the woman unlocked the door a few minutes later. The officers searched the house and did not find Wadley, though a screen had been knocked out of the bedroom window.

The woman told police that Wadley had come to the residence at 1 or 2 a.m., according to the document. She got into an argument with him and he allegedly struck her on the left side of the face at least twice. She then went into the bathroom and Wadley allegedly forced his way in and saw her on the phone.

The document states the woman’s left cheek was very red and swollen and she had a large lump that was slightly bleeding in the middle of her forehead.

Police were informed the woman had an order for protection against Wadley, the document said. A warrant was later issued for Wadley’s arrest.

A review of Wadley’s criminal record shows prior convictions for interfering with a peace officer, terroristic threats, drug possession and domestic assault.

Wadley will appear in court again on May 21.
