The Austin boys tennis team stepped up its game as it beat Albert Lea 5-2 on the road Wednesday.

The Packers (5-6 overall, 4-6 Big Nine) swept the singles matches as Jens Ourada won the No. 1 match against Grant Herfindahl of Albert Lea by scores of 6-4, 7-6.

As a team, we played probably our best match so far this season,” Austin head coach Jeff Anderson said. “It was good to have Jens play well today and win a very competitive match. That is good for the whole team when he is playing this way.”

Austin’s No. 2 doubles team of Logan Braaten and Bryar Flanders picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jaxon Heilman and Matt Edwards.

“Logan and Bryar continue to just get better,” Anderson said. “I told them after the match that are starting to really play doubles together as a team. They are both so athletic that they can get away with some bad positioning but they have worked really hard and they are playing great as a team.”
