Shirley Lou Ann Leifermann, 81, passed peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born May 4, 1937, to Odin and Marvel Johnson in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was the older sister to two brothers, Roger and Dennis.
She was the proud mother of four beautiful daughters, Donna, Laurie, Jan and Kim; the grandmother of five and the great-grandmother of six. She was the loving companion to her dog, Brigette. Her kids and grandkids were the light and love of her life and her pride and joy. Shirley devoted her life to loving her kids and grandkids and was the best Mom and “Gramma” in the world.
Shirley enjoyed having company and was the greatest hostess to any guest in her home. She always loved music and could play any song on the piano. She enjoyed a wide variety of music and could often be found enjoying a glass of wine or cup of coffee while listening to whatever music was suiting her mood that day. She also loved garage sales and visiting the local Re-Store, where she could spot the absolute best “finds.” Her kids and grandkids kept her busy mending and brought her many pairs of holy-kneed pants and lots of other things to fix over the years. She was the master of mending and could fix anything. She was also a whiz in the kitchen and her cooking/baking was revered by many as the best around. There really wasn’t much she wasn’t good at.
Shirley kept an immaculate home and yard and put hard work, pride and love into everything she did. Her unique taste and style was not that of a typical 81-year-old. She was a beautiful woman who turned heads when she walked into a room; effortlessly gorgeous and the epitome of class.
Shirley lived her life with dignity and grace until the very end. She was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her four girls, Glenn, in 1987.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, please just have a glass of wine, enjoy an afternoon in the warm sun, hug your kids or grandkids and just love one another. “Hakuna Matata.”
