BP baseball team knocks off JWP

The No. 2 seeded Blooming Prairie baseball team beat No. 7 Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (1-10 overall) 4-2 in a Section 1A West tournament opener in BP Wednesday.
Dylan Nirk doubled in two runs to put BP up 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Ian Wayne picked up the shoutout for BP (10-5 overall) as he struck out five and allowed zero earned runs.
“Ian did a great job pitching. He doesn’t get rattled and he knows his job his to throw strikes,” BP head coach Matt Kittelson said. “We ended up with a lot of ground balls and fly balls.”
BP will take on No. 3 Lyle-Pacelli at Riverland at 10 a.m. Saturday.
