A man was arrested after rear-ending a city mower on Wednesday.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, police were called at 10:51 a.m. on Wednesday to the corner of Fourth Avenue Northeast and Main Street after a Ford pick-up hit a city lawn mower. The city employee driving the mower, Dayton Kehret, 56, of Austin told police he believed the pick-up’s driver, Ronald Walburn, 68, of Austin, was intoxicated.

Kehret was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin by a co-worker because of back pain.

Walburn was given a preliminary breath test and was arrested, according to Krueger. The test allegedly showed Walburn’s blood alcohol concentration as three times the legal limit. The jail could not take Walburn in his condition; he was transported to detox at Zumbro Valley Health Center Detox in Rochester.

The case has been forwarded to the city and county attorneys. Walburn could face possible charges of third-degree DWI and careless driving.
