Falcons knock off Blooming Prairie with a walk-off hit

The Blooming Prairie baseball team had its season come to an end as it lost to Wabasha-Kellogg 1-0 in a Section 1A elimination game in Riverland Saturday.
The Falcons won the game when Max Kuntz blooped a two-out walk-off RBI single to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning. BP (12-7 overall) had zero hits and just three baserunners in the loss.
“It’s always tough when the season ends,” BP head coach Matt Kittelson said. “The last hit was kind of a little bloop single in no man’s land and that’s a helpless feeling for everybody in the field and the people watching. It wasn’t like anybody made a mistake or anything.”
BP made big strides this season as it won more games this spring that it had in the three previous seasons combined. Kittelson is hoping that is a trend that keeps going for BP.
“When my son was little he once said that BP has never been good at baseball. I said they have been, but he just wasn’t alive at the time to remember it,” Kittelson said. “It just takes one or two classes to have success and get it going.”
