Elgin Tyrese Green, 24, of Austin was sentenced on Wednesday in Mower County District Court to 60 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility for felony violent felon in possession of a firearm. He received credit for 111 days served.

Judge Kevin Siefken issued the sentence.

Green was arrested on Feb. 15 as a suspect in a Jan. 7 shooting. Court documents state that police were assisting agents from the Department of Corrections, and Green was found hiding in a closet in the second floor bedroom at a residence in the 900 block of Second Avenue Southwest.

The court documents also state that an officer found a “North Face” coat on the living room couch inside the house. When he picked it up, he felt that it was heavy, and found a .22 caliber Ruger semi-automatic pistol in one of the pockets. The pistol was loaded with “Super X’ brand ammunition, which matched that of the Jan. 7 shooting. A DOC agent said he saw Green wearing the jacket.
