Jim Olson, 68, of Cleveland, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, doing what he loved best – fishing with his grandson at their lake home.
Jim was born on May 9, 1950, in Austin, Minnesota, to Arne and Leona Catherine (Kloeckner) Olson. Jim was united in marriage to Sharon Ilene Young on Sept. 28, 1968, in Austin. Jim had a career in food service since 1968 and operated his own business, Bridge Street Enterprises, since 2004. Jim was currently president of Key City Kennel Club in Mankato, Minnesota. Jim was also a charter member and treasurer of the North Star Working Group and an AKC judge.
Jim put the family first and was always willing to open the doors and let people stay with us at any time for any amount of time. Jim loved his family, especially his two grandchildren who brought him much joy. He enjoyed fishing, horseback riding and walking on the beach listening to the waves crash. He was proud of his movie collection that his son set-up for him. He was passionate about animals – dogs, cats, birds and wildlife. Jim had an incredible sense of humor and was quick to tease, crack jokes and make you smile.
Jim is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Sharon Olson of Cleveland; son, James (Zoe) Olson of Ojai, California; grandchildren, James Cruz (Jimmy) Olson and Zia Rosa Leona Olson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Kenneth Olson and Paul Olson.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center, Minnesota, and will continue for one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be held in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Adams, Minnesota. Arrangements are with the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center.
