Sweeping the night

The Austin Post 91 baseball team swept a doubleheader against Faribault Thursday night at Marcusen Park.

Austin took the first game 8-5.

Post 91 held a 3-1 lead early, but Faribault scored three runs in the third to tie the game. However, Austin responded with four runs in the fourth to regain a lead they never gave up.

Bryce Strouf got the win in relief of Michael O’Conner, pitching two and a third innings.

Phillip Zynda went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs and Jack Dankert was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

In game two Austin commanded the game from start to finish with a 9-1 win. They scored two runs in the second and followed up with four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Drew Copley got the win, going six innings, giving up no runs and striking out six.

AJ Mueller was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Dankert was 1-for-2 with a triple and 2 RBIs.
