Area gearing up for extreme heat; Heat indices will reach triple digits Friday, Saturday

That National Weather Service out of La Crosse, Wisconsin has issued a heat advisory for Friday into Saturday.
The advisory is set to go into effect at noon Friday and last through 7 p.m. Saturday as heat and humidity begin spilling into the region.
The combination of temperatures in the 90s along with the high humidity will result in heat indices soaring. On Friday, the NWS is predicting a heat index reading of 100 to 110 degrees and 90 to 100 degrees on Saturday.
People are encouraged to check in on family, friends and pets with the young and elderly being especially susceptible.
Later in the day on Saturday, partly sunny skies are expected to give way to showers to thunderstorms in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. On Sunday, the region can expect pleasant conditions with a high near 80 and a low of 63 beneath mostly clear skies..
