As summer winds down, things start heating up at the Historic Paramount. Mark your calendar now for the fall 2018 season featuring a “December to Remember.”
The season kicks off with an Austin-based musician performing new material. Scott Jasmin will present Small-town Songs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. Jasmin wrote the American music with titles like “Skinner’s Hill,” “Tendermaid,” and “Basement Party.” Sterling Haukom opens the show. Tickets are $13 advance and $18 day of show.
Comedy fans will be “Rollin’ in the Aisles” at the Comedy Showcase at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22. Minnesota’s 2017 funniest person and two-time Midwest Emmy winner David Harris headlines this comedy showcase featuring upper Midwest touring comedian Ben Marcotte with Austin native Leo Lindstrom as a guest and hosted by Austin resident Chris Anderson. Adult content, ages 16 and over. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 day of show.
Caravan du Nord rolls into Austin again this fall on Saturday, Oct. 27. While not finalized, the tentative bill includes Doomtree Collective rapper Sims and singer-songwriter and DJ Sarah White. This show is a $25 value.
Due to grant funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board, tickets will be $10. A cash wine and beer bar will be available with support from Bent Paddle Brewing Company.
The Nutcracker ballet will come to life with performances by the Jane Taylor Academy of Dance on Friday, Nov. 23. Admission is a free-will offering at the door.
The December to Remember starts with a free community brass celebration: Merry Tuba Christmas at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.
The spirit of the season continues with Holiday Shuffle by Rhythmic Circus at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2. It is a perfectly un-traditional holiday experience for the entire family — four world-renowned hoofers and a swingin’ seven-piece band inject the signature Rhythmic Circus style of rapid-fire tap into upbeat holiday classics. Tickets go on sale Oct. 19 and are $15 in advance, $20 day of show. This show is a $35 value and is presented at a reduced price due to grant funding.
Matchbox Childrens’ Theatre presents “Charlie Brown Christmas” on Dec. 7, 8 and 9. This one-hour show will explore the holiday season in the world of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts gang and will be fun for the whole family.
Pianist Lorie Line will bring the true meaning of Christmas to Austin with her 2018 holiday extravaganza, “Lord Of Lords” at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10.
