Marilyn Elizabeth Wollenburg, 83

Marilyn Elizabeth Wollenburg, 83, of Brownsdale, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield, Minnesota, from complications of Alzheimer’s and congestive heart failure.
Marilyn was born Nov. 11, 1934, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Werner and Anna (Wollenberg) Juhnke. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham, Minnesota. Marilyn was united in marriage to George Wollenburg Jr. on Sept. 27, 1953. They raised five children and lived on a farm near Brownsdale their entire married life. Marilyn continued to reside on the farm until her passing. She worked at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin for over 30 years. Most of those years were as a compassionate nurse’s aide. Marilyn was a longtime faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, and cooking for her family. Marilyn was truly devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her four children, Steven Wollenburg, Brownsdale, Jane (Pastor Jim) Nihiser, Traverse City, Michigan, Linda (Brian) Wellik, Rochester, Minnesota, and Mary (Jeffrey) Duehlmeyer, Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Leslie and Michael Gronbach, Chelsea (Josh) Faulhaber, Kyrie (Sam) Iverson, Joydyn (Jordon) Foster, Joseph (Nicole) Duehlmeyer, Jacob (Stephanie) Duehlmeyer and Caley (Michael) Zibert; two step-grandchildren, Aaron (Beth) Nihiser and Emily (Ryan) Spica; 13 great-grandchildren, Zoe Mathison, Lydia and Layne Faulhaber, Payton and Parker Foster, Andi Iverson, Lewis, Logan and Landon Duehlmeyer and Eleanor, Joshua, Jeffrey and Esme Zibert; and three step-grandchildren, Carson Spica and Jackson and Abigail Nihiser. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Wollenburg, in 2009; and her son, Mark Wollenburg, in 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale with Pastor Ron Prigge officiating. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
