Police are looking for information after shots were fired at an apartment early Friday morning.
According to Austin Police Capt. David McKichan, police were called at 1:30 a.m. on Friday to the 1400 block of Second Avenue Southwest on a report of shots fired. Police located several bullet holes in the exterior of an apartment and several spent shell casings in the street. A bullet was also found to have hit a second apartment.
No injuries were reported. Police have not established a motive and are still investigating the incident.
Police stopped Justin Jamal Downer, 22, whom they believe resides at the targeted apartment, in an unrelated traffic stop shortly after the incident, McKichan said. Downer was arrested for driving after revocation of his license. Police also noticed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the vehicle.
Police are urging anyone with information to call the Mower County Law Enforcement Center at 507-437-9400. Reports can be made anonymously.
