Barn total loss in fire

A barn in Rose Creek is a total loss after it was consumed by fire on Friday night.
According to Mower County Senior Sgt. Investigator Steve Sandvik, the Mower County Sheriff’s Office was alerted about the fire at 10:21 p.m. The caller reported seeing flames coming from a metal-sided barn in the 58000 block of 160th Street. When deputies arrived on scene, the barn was completely engulfed.
The Rose Creek and Lyle Fire Departments responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The only items of value inside were fresh bales of hay. The value of the damage to the barn and the hay is unknown at this time.
Sandvik said the cause of the fire is unknown, but foul play is not suspected. The Rose Creek Fire Department is investigating the fire.
