New Austin postmaster sworn in Wednesday

Jason D. Berning was sworn in as Austin’s 34th postmaster Wednesday.
Berning is responsible for the adminstrative responsibility for 55 employees, four stations, 21 city routes and seven rural routes.
Berning joined the Postal Service as a rural carrier associate in 2004 and was appointed as a career rural carrier in 2008.
He held many management details as well as postal management positions including:
•Acting supervisor, customer services in the Rochester Post Office.
•Supervisor, customer services in the Austin Post Office.
•Officer-in-charge of the Austin Post Office.
“I am committed to keeping my employees safe so they can return home to their loved ones each and every day while continuing to improve our service to our customers,” Berning said through a press release.
