Every penny helps.
KAAL-TV6 Chief Photographer and Austin native Chad Corey recently finished the Transplant Center’s evaluation and testing phase while in process of seeking approval to search for a kidney donor.
Corey had been struggling with kidney disease and the complications from it for years, and recently was told that his kidney was failing and entered stage 4, according to a previous story.
To help offset medical costs, a silent auction and bake sale will be held Saturday, October 6, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Austin Eagles Lookout Aerie 703 at 107 11th St. NE in Austin. There, attendees can purchase baked goods, grab a meal and shop the numerous gift baskets that businesses and loved ones donated for the cause.
“Every little bit helps in the astronomical cost of this upcoming transplant,” Cheryl said in an update on the GoFundMe page. “We are inviting you to join us for this event.”
So far, the page raised $6,150 that would be put toward paying off Chad’s medical bills and treatments that would come with a kidney transplant.
