Brendan Charles Johnson, 35, of Brownsdale pleaded guilty to felony check forgery-offer with intent to defraud as part of a plea agreement on Thursday in Mower County District Court. He initially pleaded not guilty to the charge on July 12.
According to the court complaint, an officer was called on March 16 to Bobee Jo’s Bar concerning a fraudulent check. An employee told the officer he had received the check, cashed in the amount of $985, from Johnson on March 10.
The officer reviewed surveillance video that showed Johnson cashing the check, the complaint states.
A review of Johnson’s criminal record shows a prior conviction for theft. He was also recently sentenced to probation for burglarizing Steve’s Pizza in Austin.
Johnson will be sentenced on Jan. 24.
