Letter: What has happened to journalism?

The Austin Daily Herald invited anyone with something to say to send in their thoughts. I have more of a complaint or an opinion.
It is about the media and its prejudices and biases when reporting about President Trump.
Ninety percent of the media can’t write a political report without bad mouthing our president. It is always the sky is falling or the glass is half empty. It used to be journalist would report the news fair and balanced and let the readers decide for themselves. Now they have dumbed down journalism to being nothing more than propaganda.
This type of journalism has alienated about half of their readers, listeners and viewers. CNN ratings are lower than some cartoon networks or sitcoms and still falling. The New York Daily News recently laid off half of their news staff. They still haven’t learned, they are still reporting negative news. They cannot insult half of the people’s intelligence and expect to at least maintain status quo. Fox News on the other hand is gaining viewers. Watch each one for an hour then decide which you would rather watch.
When an article mentions an anonymous source, that raises a red flag to me that this is going to be mostly fake news and I simply stop reading it. I can write an article claiming an anonymous source and can write anything I want whether it is true or not.
I admit that President Trump can be a little boastful but he has to ring his own bell; the media isn’t going to give him any credit. Did they give President Trump credit for a record stock Market? Record high employment, especially for minorities? Companies coming back that former President Obama said were gone for good? Tax cuts for everyone who pays income tax? I could go on about President Trump’s successes, but did they once give him a good report? No, they have fact checked in an attempt to beat down the president.
Beating up the president is not as popular as the media seems to think. It’s just the liberals are making more noise. Who knows, perhaps if the media were more accurate and unbiased I may become a subscriber?
