Letter: Sandvik is dedicated, honorable

Mower County is very fortunate to have two qualified candidates for sheriff. On Nov. 6, we select one to lead us for the next four years and beyond.

I have known Steve Sandvik since I was in high school and believe he will do an outstanding job. As a friend of mine in high school, Steve was the type of person who included everyone, a quality that built him into the person he is today. I worked 31 years in law enforcement and know very well the qualities that make a good peace officer. Steve has always been a very dedicated and honorable person with a great deal of integrity.

About three years ago, I switched careers and now work as a substance abuse prevention coordinator in Austin. My new position has allowed me “first-hand” experience to see how committed Steve is to the communities he serves, especially Austin. In addition, Steve volunteered his personal time to work our community prevention activities.

The next sheriff follows in the footsteps of longtime Sheriff Terese Amazi. I couldn’t help but notice that she has extended her endorsement to Steve Sandvik. Sheriff Amazi must have seen some special talents and leadership abilities to give Steve such an endorsement.

I encourage you to vote. We have many opportunities for the next Mower County Sheriff, and hope that whoever wins will work hard to make Austin a safe place to call home! Find out more: https://sandvik4sheriff.com/ https://www.facebook.com/John-Bachman-for-Mower-County-Sheriff-2017977115186854/
