Suspects sought in Ankeny’s armed robbery; Police ask public for assistance

Austin police are looking for two suspects who held up the Oakland Place Ankeny’s store Sunday night.
According to Police Capt. David McKichan, police received a robbery report at 9:50 p.m. on Sunday from Ankeny’s at 1205 Oakland Place Southeast. Clerks reported that two suspects with their heads and faces covered entered the store and demanded money and several items.
McKichan said one suspect was described as a thin, light-skinned black teen male with glasses, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a black stocking cap. The second suspect was also described as a thin, light-skinned black teen male, slightly shorter than the other and carrying a black semi-automatic pistol.
The suspects took several items and some cash before leaving and running north, according to McKichan. No injuries were reported.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage and are asking nearby residents with surveillance cameras to review footage taken around the time of the robbery.
