Sylvia Ann Goodwin, 84

Sylvia Ann (Stokes) Goodwin, 84, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Society in Austin.

Sylvia was born April 6, 1934, in Bradford, Iowa, to Milton and Nellie (Flynn) Stokes. She attended school in Austin, where she graduated in 1952. She was a life-long member (and one of the original members, as she loved to tell) of the First Congregational Church of Austin.

Sylvia married Dick Thompson on July 17, 1954. They had five children and divorced in 1980. Sylvia married Everett Goodwin on April 10, 1983, becoming a stepmother to Ev’s four children. Together, they spent time with their friends, children and grandchildren as they traveled constantly to various destinations. Sylvia loved to bake, shop and visit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; son, Gregory Thompson; and son-in-law, Steve Goodew.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Kimberly (Mark) Corkill, Austin, Debra Goodew, Austin, Bradley Thompson (Liz Thissen), Lansing, Minnesota, and Jeffrey (Ella) Thompson, Golden, Colorado; grandchildren, Jason (Andrea) Corkill, Jessica (Shane) Brink and Joshua Corkill, Luke Goodew, and Isabelle and Lily Thompson, Emmakate and Natalie Austin, Sidney and Grace Thybulle and John “Jack” Coelho; great-grandchildren, Jack and Oliver Corkill; and stepchildren, Daniel Goodwin, Manhattan, New York, Debra (Erroll) Goodwin-Thybulle, Irvington, New York, Tamera (John) Coelho, Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and Melanie (Dan) Austin, Rosemount, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at First Congregational Church with the Rev. Shari Mason officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
