The Southland girls basketball team lost its season opener to Plainview-Elgin-Millville (1-0 overall) by a score of 57-45 in Adams Tuesday.
The Rebels (0-1 overall) led for much of the first half, but they ran into foul trouble as three starters fouled out.
“I give our bench a lot of credit. Some younger players did a nice job of keeping us in the game, but we just had to play too conservative,” Southland head coach Dean Bendtsen said.
