New council members to be sworn in Monday

Three new council members will be administered their oaths of office during the Austin City Council’s next regular meeting.
First Ward Councilwoman-elect Rebecca Waller, Second Ward Councilman-elect Jason Baskin, and Third Ward Councilwoman-elect Joyce Poshusta will all be sworn in to their first term of office.
Current First Ward incumbent Councilman Jeff Austin will also be sworn in as the new council member at-large.
The council will receive feasibility reports calling for a Feb. 19 public hearing on street improvement wok throughout the city. They will also vote on ordering a feasibility report for construction work on Oakland Place Southeast.
Public Works Director Steven Lang will discuss the 2019 assessment rates for street reconstruction projects during the council’s regular work session.
The council’s next regular meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, in the City Council Chambers, located in the basement of City Hall. The work session will be held immediately following the meeting in the conference room located across the hall.
