The Southland girls basketball team hung around for a half, but it couldn’t keep up as it lost to Winona Cotter (12-3 overall, 8-0 Three Rivers) 59-33 on the road Tuesday.

The Rebels (3-12 overall, 2-7 Three Rivers) trailed by just six at halftime, but they only scored 13 points in the second half.

“They came out and played a little rougher and a little tougher and we threw in the towel,” Southland head coach Dean Bendtsen said.
