Juan Jose Vazquez, 24, of Austin was charged on Thursday in Mower County District Court with felony third-degree drugs-sale of a narcotic and felony fifth-degree drug possession.
According to the court complaint, narcotics detectives met with a confidential informant (CI) on Oct. 8 about purchasing heroin from Vazquez. The CI and his vehicle were searched and police provided him with an audio transmitter and buy money. The CI was then monitored as he met Vazquez at a location in Austin.
Vazquez approached the CI and the two walked a short distance before Vazquez sold him heroin. The CI then walked away and was picked up by a detective. The CI surrendered two grams of heroin and confirmed Vazquez sold him the drugs.
On Tuesday, a narcotics detective learned that Vazquez was encountered with other subjects, James Horace Mister and Dominique Lamar Knox, who were being charged with a robbery. The detective advised to have Vazquez brought to the Mower County Jail regarding the heroin sale.
At the jail, Vazquez was found to be in possession of approximately ½ gram of heroin.
Vazquez will appear in court again on Jan. 31.
