The Hayfield boys basketball team couldn’t come up with a clutch shot as it lost to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (16-1 overall, 7-1 Gopher) 54-51 on the road Friday.
The Vikings (15-3 overall, 9-1 Gopher) trailed by as many as nine and they led by as many as four, but they weren’t able to get a game-tying three off on their final possession.
“We just couldn’t get a good shot off,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “They defended us well at the end.”
