According to the court complaint, police executed a search warrant at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday on Cordero, who was suspected of delivering a large amount of drugs to Austin.

Cordero and Diaz-Himley were spotted in a 2018 Sentra Sedan with a Montana license plate. When they exited the vehicle, the officers approached them about the search warrant.

While searching Cordero, officers found a bag containing one pound (or 453 grams) of methamphetamine in his left pocket. When asked what was in the bag, Cordero said “drugs.” He was also found to be in possession of 3.57 grams of cocaine, two oxycodone pills and four alprazolam pills.

Pablo Diaz-Himley, 63

Police searched Diaz-Himley and found approximately 0.22 grams of cocaine and a straw used for snorting cocaine.

While at the Mower County Law Enforcement Center, Diaz-Himley admitted to possessing cocaine, but denied knowledge of the large amount of methamphetamine Cordero was transporting.

Cordero did not answer any questions because no attorney was present; however, while being transported to his jail cell, he made statements that Diaz-Himley had nothing to do with the methamphetamine.

A review of Cordero’s criminal record shows prior convictions for assault, drug possession and sales of a controlled substance.

Both will appear in court again on Feb. 14.
