26 killed on Minnesota roads in January

Twenty-six individuals were killed on Minnesota roads in January 2019, up from 22 in January 2018, according to preliminary numbers released by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Of the 26 fatalities:
- Two were distracted-related;
- Six were speed-related;
- Five were alcohol-related;
- Four people were not buckled up;
- 14 were men, 12 were women; and
- Eight were pedestrians
The DPS said 2,139 motorists were arrested for DWI in January 2019, up from 1,971 in January 2018.
