The United Way of Mower County thanked its director, Diane Baker, for her service and dedication to the organization as she stepped down to lead the Austin Community Recreation Center as CEO of the YMCA.
“It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that the United Way of Mower County Board of Directors announces Diane Baker’s departure as executive director effective May 3,” said Tami Yokiel, Chair of the United Way of Mower County Board. “Diane has played a critical role in the development and success of the organization. While we will miss her and her inspiring leadership, we wish her the best of luck in her new position at the Austin Community Recreation Center. We want to thank Diane for her five years of dedicated service to the United Way.”
Baker made a significant impact on United Way’s success by focusing on fundraising and building community awareness. She can also be credited with forming strong relationships that led to collaborative efforts addressing critical local issues.
“It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as executive director of the United Way for the past five years,” Baker said. “I am truly grateful to our staff, board, volunteers, and donors who trusted me to oversee such a phenomenal organization. I am proud of the work that we have done collectively to live up to our mission. I will cherish the relationships that have been built and look forward to carrying them forward in my new role at the Austin Community Recreation Center.”
“Over the next month, the United Way of Mower County Board of Directors will determine a transition plan and make it a priority to find the best individual to lead the organization effectively and efficiently to continue the very important work the United Way does for our local communities,” Yokiel said.
