AHS to establish music hall of fame

A hall of fame for Austin High School graduates/musicians a decade in the works will now be a reality.
The Austin School Board approved a request Monday night from former music teacher Ken Jensen to establish the Austin High School Music Hall of Fame.
Jensen said a group has been working for 10 years to bring recognition to AHS graduates who have had music careers or are involved in music in their communities.
Past and present music educators will also be eligible. Jensen said he would like to hold an annual induction ceremony honoring alumni from each decade dating back to — hopefully — the 1930s.
Jensen said establishing the Hall of Fame is timely because next year Austin is hosting the Big 9 Music Festival, the longest running music festival of its kind in the United States.
The Hall of Fame will likely be located in a display outside Knowlton Auditorium.
