The Hayfield softball team opened its season with a 12-0 win in five innings over Kenyon-Wanamingo on the road Friday.

Sophomore Kylie Freeburg had a grand slam in the win for the Vikings (1-0 overall) and sophomore Caitlyn Hendrickson struck out seven to get the shutout.
