Tom Heuangsayaseng, 33, of Austin was sentenced to 98 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for felony second-degree drugs-sale of 10 grams or more of a narcotic other than heroin within a 90-day period on Thursday in Mower County District Court. He received credit for 93 days served.

The charge was reduced from felony first-degree drugs-sale of 17 grams or more of methamphetamine as part of a plea agreement reached on April 8.

Judge Jeffrey Kritzer issued the sentence.

Court documents state that narcotics detectives met with a confidential reliable informant (CRI) on Dec. 13 about purchasing methamphetamine from Heuangsayaseng. The CRI and his vehicle were searched and police provided him buy money and an audio transmitter.

The CRI was monitored as he went to Heuangsayaseng’s residence in the 600 block of 10th Street Northeast. The CRI entered the residence and detectives heard him speaking to Heuangsayaseng, who then sold the CRI methamphetamine.

Following the sale, police met with the CRI at a predetermined location. The CRI turned over 27.81 grams of methamphetamine and confirmed Heuangsayaseng sold him the drugs.

A review of Heuangsayaseng’s criminal history shows prior convictions for fleeing a peace officer, carrying/possessing a pistol without a permit, assault, drug possession and first and third-degree drug sales.

In addition to the sentence, Heuangsayaseng must also pay $85 in fees.
