Susanne M. Dorn, 92

Susanne M. Dorn, 92, of Prior Lake, Minnesota, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 20, 2019.

Sue was born at her grandparents’ home in Appleton, Wisconsin on May 25, 1926. She attended Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she met and later married her Prince Charming, Patrick Geraghty. They had seven children and resided in Austin until his tragic death in 1962.

She then took on the overwhelming task of raising her family alone with great strength, dignity and fortitude, qualities that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Sue later met Donald Dorn and they married in 1972. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who love her.

Sue is survived by her children, Michael Geraghty, Nancy (Phil) Hulet, Patrick (Janet) Geraghty, James Geraghty, Jean (Raymond) Wicks, Mary (Chuck) Simon, Cathy (Jim) Haugh, Dean (Pam) Dorn, and Todd (Lisa) Dorn; 30 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Patrick Geraghty and Donald Dorn; parents, Glen Roy Bolton and Dorothy Aretz; brother, Willard (Bud) Ridley; sisters, Caroline Hanson and Sally Bren; stepson, Scott Dorn; and step grandson, Justin Simon.

Visitation will be 11-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, followed by a celebration of her life at 11:30 a.m., at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral Home, 1220 3rd Ave. E., Shakopee, MN. Services will be officiated by Pastor Raymond Wicks, son-in-law of Sue’s. In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions will be directly donated to Andrew Residence in Minneapolis, as Sue volunteered many hours advocating for mental health resources.
