Denis L. Sime, 74
Denis Lee Sime, 74, of Blooming Prairie, died July 4, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
He was born Dec. 5, 1928, in Bemidji, to Lee Francis and Elyn V. (Johnson) Sime.
Denis served in the U.S. Air Force from September 1946 until August 1949, stationed in Japan.
On Sept. 4, 1955, he married Paula Jean Karpenter in Duluth.
A resident of Blooming Prairie for 44 years, Denis worked for Ulland Brothers for 37 years, where he was a superintendent.
He belonged to the American Legion and enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Sime, Blooming Prairie; sons, Kevin Sime, St. Paul; Mark (Beth) Sime, St. Louis, Mo.; David (Norma) Sime, El Paso, Texas; John Sime, Blooming Prairie; daughter, Debra (Kenneth) Banks, Northport, Ala.; seven grandchildren; mother, Elyn Sime, Duluth; brother, Gerald Sime, Duluth.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.
Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with The Rev. Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Casket bearers will be Denis Banks, Jason Banks, Kenneth Banks, Eric Sime, Jacob Sime, David Sime and Mark Sime.
Interment: Blooming Prairie Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 52.
