Girls from around the area will get a chance to learn about summer camps available through the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. on Monday.
Everyone is welcome to attend the open house from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the George room of the Hormel Historic Home. Parents and their daughters can watch videos about the camps, and meet with camp employees. Parents can also sign up to take a bus tour of area camps.
Mary Goetz, a membership specialist with the Girl Scouts, said a number of camps offer a wide range of activities, like dancing, canoeing and horseback riding. Girls can go to camp for three days or three weeks. Older girls are can apply for camps across the U.S. and abroad.
All girls, even those not in Girl Scouts, are eligible to attend the camps. Grants are available to help pay for camp costs. Girl Scouts can use credits from the sale of Girl Scout Cookies to go toward camp costs.
