Learn about Medicare at the senior center

If you are turning 65 or going on Medicare, here is an opportunity for you to get the information you need.
At 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, we will be offering a class on Medicare ABCD’s. This class will cover the parts of Medicare, hospital, medical and drug options including original/ traditional Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare advantage plans, Part D prescription drug coverage and preventive benefits.
Also included is information about Medicare’s savings programs, drug assistance, preventing fraud, waste and abuse, and other resources to help you make informed decisions. The instructor is a certified State Health Insurance Program counselor with the Senior LinkAge Line. Everyone is welcome. If you would like to sign up for this class, stop by the Mower County Senior Center or call the front desk at 1-507-433-2370.
At 9 a.m. on Friday is our next four hour refresher class for Defensive Driving. Cost for members is $17 and $20 for non-members. You need a four hour refresher course every three years to continue to receive your 10 percent discount on your insurance. If you have never taken this course, you must start out with an eight hour class.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and sandwich for 50 cents. Monday, we will be serving meatballs in the coffee shop. We are also having hotdish two times a week. On Tuesday we are having hamburger stroganoff and Thursday we will be having chicken alfredo for only $2.
