People ride their bikes for many reasons.  Whether to stay healthy and active, to help protect our environment, to save money on fuel, or as a convenient way to get places, riding a bike is simply a ton of fun.  Here at Neveln Elementary School, we encourage all our Knights to bike more often, for any reason! 

Now, with the motivation to ride bikes comes the need for bike safety education. We believe that knowledge is power, which is why Neveln is committed to ensuring every Knight has access to quality bike education.

On Thursday, Oct. 3, Neveln Elementary School is hosting a bike rodeo called “Knights & Bikes” beginning at 5 p.m.  A bike rodeo is a skill-building clinic developed to teach children basic bicycling skills.  Students and parents will learn more about traffic safety and bicycling as well as practice their skills on an obstacle course.

All students need to do is arrive with their bike and helmet and we will have a great time. For students without a helmet, we will have over 100 helmets to give away to ensure all students have the opportunity to ride safely in our community.

Events like this require community partnerships for support. Neveln Elementary School is honored to partner with Mower County Health & Human Services, AHS Mountain Bike Club, Rydjor Bike Shop, Austin Police Department, Hormel Foods, and Walmart!

So, if you have a bike, why not take it out for a spin?  It’s a fun way to stay healthy and active, and after checking out our “Bike Rodeo”, you know you’ll be able to do so safely.
