In the largest hiring in Austin Police Department history, four new Austin police officers were sworn-in Monday morning at City Hall.
“Today the City of Austin is pleased to be starting four new officers,” said Austin Police Chief David McKichan.
The new officers sworn-in were Zachary Gast, Jeffrey Marx, Hannah Mueller and Samuel Diggins. Administrative Services Director Tom Dankert administered the oath.
A fifth officer was also hired, but was unable to attend the ceremony, McKichan said.
With the hiring of the new officers, the APD is back up to its maximum allotment of 34 officers. McKichan said the new hires will be done with field training in January.
