The Grand Meadow football team simply wasn’t able to match up with the physicality of Mountain Lake Area as the Superlarks were ousted by a score of 42-12 in the Minnesota Class Nine Man State Tournament quarterfinals Friday night in Art Hass Stadium.

MLA quarterback Abraham Stoesz ran for 205 yards and four scores and he threw for 81 yards and a TD as the Superlarks (10-2 overall) struggled to contain him.

While their run is over, the Superlarks were able to get back to the state tournament after a two-year hiatus and the team graduates just seven seniors from this year’s team.

Nolan Skifter, one of those seniors, said GM made big strides this season and he’s hoping the program continues to surge next fall.

“It was a really long process to get here. I’d like to thank all of my teammates, coaches, family, friends and the whole community,” Skifter said. “It’s been a hell of a four years. I hope the returning guys take all of the leadership and play every play like its their last, because four years of high school is the fastest thing in your life. It flies by.”
