At 7 p.m. tonight, at the Lansing Town Hall (26938 – 539th Avenue, Lansing) the Lansing Town Board will be discussing and voting on a fee agreement that would allow the SKB Lansing Landfill, located along 243rd Street in Lansing Township, to expand from the permitted capacity of 1,930,000 cubic yards to a proposed permitted capacity of 3,243,000 cubic yards and design capacity of 4,936,000 cubic yards.
The final elevation would increase by 65 feet from 1,297 feet MSL (mean sea level) to 1,362 feet MSL. In exchange, Lansing Township would collect a fee of 30 cents per ton of “acceptable waste” as approved by the MPCA.
The SKB Lansing Landfill is located a quarter mile north of the land recently donated by the Worlein family of Austin that was dedicated during the 2019 Minnesota Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener in October.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting.
