Standoff ends peacefully

RACINE -- The Special Incident Response Team was called out for an emergency at a rural Racine residence.
The SIRT team arrived at the scene, but before it was deployed, the emergency dissipated.
According to a Mower County Sheriff's Office report, a distraught man involved in a marital dispute threatened to discharge a shotgun in his home Sunday night.
The wife and a 4-year-old child were home at the time of the incident at a residence northwest of Racine and near the Olmsted County line.
After two hours of negotiation, the man surrendered to authorities at the scene. He did not fire the gun.
The man was taken to the Austin Medical Center stress center for evaluation. No charges were filed.
The SIRT team is comprised of officers from the Austin Police Department and Mower County Sheriff's Office.
Vandalism spree
LEROY -- Two adults were arrested in connection with a vandalism spree at a rural LeRoy residence.
The men, ages 19 and 21 from Taopi and rural Adams, respectively, are accused of shooting out windows in a pickup truck, van and camper at the rural LeRoy residence. In addition, windows in the house were also shot out.
The men used a pellet handgun, according to the Mower County Sheriff's Office report.
The pair admitted to their vandalism spree, which occurred around 10 p.m. Sunday.
