The No. 17 seeded LeRoy-Ostrander girls basketball team scored its first win of the season when they needed it most as they took down No. 17 Rushford-Peterson (3-23 overall) by a score of 37-34 in a Section 1A Tournament opener in Rushford Tuesday.

Kelly Hanson had 15 points, 10 rebonds, three steals and two blocks for the Cardinals (1-25 overall) and Libertee Smalley had nine points, eight rebounds and four steals.

LO will play at No. 1 Blooming Prairie at 7 p.m. Thursday.
