Marion Gloriet Waldron, 96

Marion Gloriet Waldron, beloved mother and grandmother of Austin, passed away peacefully at Maple Manor Health Care in Rochester on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the age of 96. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Marion was born on Jan. 30, 1915, in Denton, Mont., to Helge and Clara (Hanson) Severson. She was baptized in Denton and confirmed at Red Oak Lutheran Church in Corning, Minn. Marion graduated from Austin High School in 1932. She went to Normal Teacher Training in Austin and taught school in Myrtle, Minn., for two years. Marion married Cyle Richard Waldron on March 23, 1935, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Marion worked as a bookkeeper for F.W. Woolworth for 28 years in Austin. She and Cyle lived in Austin until Cyle’s retirement, then made their home on Teepeota Point, Wabasha, Minn., from 1975 until 1990. During the winters, they loved to travel to Florida, Arizona and Texas. Marion was a lifelong member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. She was a great cook and a fashionable lady. Her family has many fond memories of her, especially her Norweign prayers and stories of her childhood.

She is survived by two daughters, Marjean (Jerry) Kittleson of Rochester and Dellene (Richard W.) Anderson Cummings of Austin, nine grandchildren; Brad Kittleson, Scott (Jane) Kittleson, Randy (Tammy) Kittleson, Karin (Brad) Berg, Jody (Larry) Maricle, Shelly Olson, Brian (Melissa) Anderson, Eric Anderson, and David (Nicole) Anderson; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Richard) Stellmaker of St. Louis Park; sister-in-law Julia Waldron of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. Marion is preceded in death by her husband, Cyle; parents; son-in-law, Gordon S. Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Breanna Berg and Derek Olson; brother Andrus Severson; sister-in-law, Esther Severson; brother-in-law, Dwight Waldron.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Visitation is one hour before the service at the church. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to St. Olaf Lutheran Church or The American Diabetes Association. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is in charge of arrangements.
