An Austin man was in Mower County Jail Monday following a pursuit early Sunday evening.

Ruben Trevino, 48, was arrested for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety, first-degree driving while impaired, possess/sale small amounts of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police reports, a trooper with the Minnesota State Patrol pulled over Trevino after a 911 call came in asking for help with a mental health issue. Dispatch pinged Trevino’s cell phone, which came back to between Highway 218 and 277th Street.

Trevino was pulled over near 320th Street, north of Austin. At that point Trevino got out of the vehicle only to get back into the vehicle and drive away.

A request came into the Mower County Sheriff’s Department for help with the pursuit, which transitioned to Highway 56 going southbound. Trevino avoided stop stick deployment by a deputy at the intersection of Highway 56 and County Road 57 just north of Brownsdale, turned around and headed north into Dodge County where a trooper was waiting with another stop stick just south of Highway 56 and Highway 30, south of Hayfield.

At that point Trevino stopped and was taken into custody without incident.
