Audrey Marie Weiss, 92, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Ostrander Care & Rehab in Ostrander, Minnesota.

Audrey was born the only daughter to Clara (Sauer) and Henry Weiss on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 1928. She attended St. Augustine’s and Austin schools while growing up. When she was 18, Audrey started working for Hormel Foods as a laborer and retired after working there for 38 years.

She made Austin her lifelong home until her passing. Audrey loved to read books and do crossword puzzles, as well as enjoyed traveling and dancing. However, perhaps Audrey was most known for her love of “Big Band” music, especially that of Glen Miller. She also loved animals and was a passionate and devoted volunteer for the Mower County Humane Society. Audrey loved to collect angel statues, and also had many statues of cats and dogs. She always felt and told people that she had the best friends and family anyone could wish for.

Audrey is survived by her brother, Maynard “Gabby” Weiss of Austin; six nieces and nephews, Greg (Donna) Weiss, Glenn Weiss, Vincent Jr. (Melissa) Weiss, Kim (Tom) Bocko, Pam (Joe) Coscia, and Cheryl Farrell, all from New Jersey; grandnieces and grandnephews; and a great-grandniece and great-grandnephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Clara Weiss; brother, Vincent (Ida) Weiss; and nephew, Douglas Weiss.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. The family requests no flowers. Any memorials may be sent to the Mower County Humane Society at Audrey’s wishes. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
