The governor challenged and the public responded.
On Saturday, April 25, Gov. Tim Walz launched a week-long homemade mask drive at fire departments around the state. As of Monday, the Austin Fire Department had received a generous donation of 634 homemade masks from community members.
Other fire departments within Mower County received numerous homemade mask donations as well.
These homemade masks will be distributed for use by workers and residents of local congregate living facilities in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 to those particularly at-risk individuals. Homemade masks will not replace personal protective equipment, however, it will assist with preventing germs from infecting others.
These donations are greatly appreciated and will assist with flattening the curve of Covid-19.
When a community comes together great things happen.
