Miss Austin 2003 candidates attended a workshop Saturday in Knowlton Auditorium to prepare for this summer's pageant.

Twelve young women will be competing for the title and scholarships at 7 p.m. July 19 in Knowlton Auditorium at Austin High School.

The Miss Austin Scholarship Program awarded more than $10,000 in scholarship last year to the contestants. Area businesses and individuals fund the program, which is one of the top five pageants in the country in awarding scholarships.

Each candidate also has two local sponsors, which the program organizers are still arranging.
