Two Austin residents were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a four-vehicle accident Wednesday evening on Highway 218 just north of Interstate 90.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol crash report, a 2019 Ford Ecosport was northbound on Highway 218 when it collided with a 2017 Honda Accord. The impact caused the Honda to collide with a 2014 Ford Focus, which in turn collided with a 2012 Chevy Avalanche near the exit ramp.
The Austin Fire Department, Police Department, Mower County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Ambulance responded to the scene.
The Honda’s driver, Shaneva Dawn Johnson, 52, and passenger, Kami Alysse Hogan, 22, both of Austin, were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin with non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the other vehicles were uninjured.
The report did not indicate what caused the collision; however, alcohol was not involved.
